Enhanced SMS & Caller ID works as a plug-in for automation apps like Tasker, Locale and AutomateIt. Use it to change what gets read aloud automatically: turn announcements off when you get to work, switch to calls only at night, or load a different set of preferences when you get in the car.
The app provides two plug-in actions.
This action, listed as Enhanced SMS & Caller ID, lets you choose exactly what should be read aloud when the action runs.
The master switch. When it is checked, the app is turned on. When it is unchecked, the app is turned off completely, the same as switching off Enabled in the app's settings, and all of the options below are cleared.
Check each type of notification you want read aloud while this action is active. Anything left unchecked is turned off. Checking any of these also checks the master switch.
The summary shown in your automation app (for example Reading: Incoming Calls, SMS.) tells you at a glance what the action will do.
This action, listed as Ecid Preference chooser, restores a set of preferences you saved earlier, so one tap or trigger can switch every setting at once.
In a task, add an action, choose Plugin, then Enhanced SMS & Caller ID, and pick one of the two actions above. Tap the edit (pencil) icon to configure it, then press back to save.
In a situation, add a setting and choose Enhanced SMS & Caller ID or Ecid Preference chooser, then configure it and press back to save.
Any automation app that supports Locale plug-ins can use these actions. Look for Enhanced SMS & Caller ID in its list of plug-in actions and configure it the same way.
Actions you created with earlier versions of the app keep working. Opening and saving one again updates it to the newest format.
