New release v2.6.5-268

This release adds a feature that many have asked for! When Google moved over to Hangouts, the Google Talk feature of this application ceased working in a usable manner. The workarounds provided weren't all that useful and annoyed many users. This release allows you to enable "Compatibility" mode which then triggers our internal Gtalk client. The downside to this is that battery life will decrease and data usage will increase. The reason for this is simple. We now have to maintain a connection to the Google Talk servers so we can listen for messages. Another downside of this new feature is that, basically, the Gtalk servers may not be supported by Google for much longer as they are transitioning towards Hangouts. Hopefully, when Google sunsets Gtalk, they provide better access to chat messages and we can migrate over to it.

Gtalk was not the only thing that we were busy working on. We recently noticed more crash reports being sent to us and tried to address the problems found. One of these problems was related to Samsung and their rollout of Android 4.3. With the help of our users, we managed to find where our app triggered this bug and added a work around. A big thank you goes out to those that helped.

In closing, we would like to thank all of you for supporting us in the development of eCID. Given the sheer number of feature requests we have received, both over email and through the eCID testers community, we will continue to be hard at work delivering new features for you to use.

If you are satisfied with our apps, we would greatly appreciate a 5 star review on the Play store and a little comment from you on what you like about the app. If you are not 100% satisfied, please contact us and tell us why. We do strive for your 100% satisfaction and will try to correct any issues you encounter as quickly as possible.
