What It DoesThis app can be used to both have your incoming SMS messages In addition to providing voice notifications, Enhanced SMS & Caller ID now supports SMS Voice Reply! We didn't stop there, as we also have the ability to perform reverse look-ups for unknown, but listed, calls! Additionally, eCID can also help you screen your incoming phone calls. Don't want to bother with 'Private' callers? eCID will ignore them. Don't feel like talking to people that are not in your contacts? eCID can ignore them too! Feeling social? Then stop ignoring those calls! While you are setting up the call filter, you might want to screen SMS messages from people you don't know too. eCID does all of this. In addition to reading incoming calls and SMS messages, this app can also read incoming Gmail messages and K9 / Kaiten mail messages. eCID can notify you of new messages and even read a brief clip of the message! eCID does not stop there, it can also provide voice notifications for Google Talk! This app can also provide voice notifications for your Google Calendar event reminders. Finally, if Enhanced SMS & Caller ID doesn't natively support verbal nnotifications for apps you are interested in, our "Other Apps" feature might just do the trick! This feature can be used to read out status bar notifications for applications you care about. How it Does IteCID uses the Text-to-speech functionality of your android phone to speak to you so make sure to enable and set that up first! eCID also uses the voices that are built into your Android phone. If you want more voices, they are available for download on the market and are compatible with this app.To be safe, Android OS 2.0 or greater is a requirement. Also, please check for and enable TTS on your phone (in the Settings menu). Unlike other apps, free or paid, this app works with most Bluetooth headsets as long as the headset is compatible with the A2DP profile! What it Doesn't DoeCID does not create the voices that you hear; they are already installed on your phone and require you to correctly set them up if they sound robotic. If you are not happy with the current selection of voices that your phone comes pre-installed with, then install other ones from the android marketplace.
eCID also does not mess around with your ringtones. The caller id is played in addition to your ringtone. eCID also does not read contacts from SIM cards. If you have an Android phone, why would you not use Google Contacts? It's better than your SIM card, you can edit them online and you wont lose them! Finally, eCID does not claim to work on phones running mods (not saying it doesn't work, just that you will need to try it to find out unless you hear otherwise).
